BLOOMINGTON – Bloomington-Normal’s two largest soccer clubs are merging and becoming an affiliate of the Chicago Fire pro soccer club.

A news release from the Fire said the Illinois Fussion Soccer Club and Prairie Cities Soccer Club League will become the Illinois Fire Juniors.

Illinois Fusion will be totally rebranded as the Illinois Fire juniors. PCSCL will keep its current branding and operations, but will have access to new training and payer development opportunities.

“Adding Illinois fire Juniors to the club network is a very important step in the evolution of our programming within the State of Illinois and we look forward to building our presence with players, coaches and parents within the Bloomington-Normal community,” Senior Director of Youth Development Paul Caldwell said.

Illinois Fire Juniors will be the 11th juniors club in the Fire network, which currently spans six states with clubs in Florida, Illinois, Indiana, Kentucky, Louisiana and Michigan.

Illinois poet Vachel Lindsay…

African-Americans have been killed too many times in the past before George Floyd, but the response to this man’s death is international and all-encompassing. I was a grade-schooler during the Civil Rights 1960s. I watched Birmingham demonstrators hosed and the Selma – Montgomery…

Workers’ Memorial Day – Remember those whose job took their life

Looking around our community, when we say employer, most will respond to State Farm, Country, or Illinois State University.   We too often forget those who are building our roads, serving our food, or our public employees. COVID-19 has made us more aware of the risk.  Going to work every day for some people means…
