CULLOM – Mary Alice Haag, 97, of Cullom, passed away Saturday, January 28, 2017 at 11 a.m. at Evenglow Inn in Pontiac.
Her funeral will be held on Saturday, February 4, 2017 at 11 a.m. at St. John’s Lutheran Church, Cullom. A visitation will be held on Friday from 4 p.m. till 7 p.m. at the church in Cullom. Burial will be in West Lawn Cemetery, Cullom. Calvert & Martin Funeral Home in Cullom is in charge of the arrangements.
Mary Alice was born on June 20, 1919 in Chatsworth, IL, a daughter of Clinton and Minnie (Lighty) Serene. She married Marlin Edward Haag on February 19, 1937 in Cullom, IL. He passed away September 21, 1989.
Surviving are sons: Dewaine “Dewey” (Marie) Haag of Emington and David (Marsha) Haag of Kempton; sister-in-law, Jackie Serene of Clifton; 6 grandchildren and 13 great grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her parents and brother, Gerald Serene.
Mary Alice was a member of St. John’s Lutheran Church in Cullom, WELCA and served as their president for a time, served as a leader of the Happy Helper 4-H Club, was a member of the Home Bureau and the American Legion Auxiliary.
She enjoyed singing in the church choir, was an avid Cubs and Bulls fan. She always made time to follow all her grandchildren in their activities. She enjoyed dancing with her friends and her trips to Naples, FL.
