BLOOMINGTON – The former executive director of the U.S. Cellular Coliseum has been charged with theft.

Curtis Webb had been brought in to run the venue by VenuWorks, which took over management of the Coliseum this year.

The charges against Webb accuse him of using a company debit card to make personal purchases.

Bloomington City Manager David Hales released a statement regarding the charges:

“The City takes these situations very seriously. Shortly after Mr. Webb’s termination in October, the City asked the Police to investigate the incident. Now that charges have been filed, we will await the outcome of the judicial process.”

Webb was fired in October.

I was a grade-schooler during the Civil Rights 1960s. I watched Birmingham demonstrators hosed and the Selma – Montgomery…

Workers’ Memorial Day – Remember those whose job took their life

Looking around our community, when we say employer, most will respond to State Farm, Country, or Illinois State University.   We too often forget those who are building our roads, serving our food, or our public employees. COVID-19 has made us more aware of the risk.  Going to work every day for some people means…
