Jack Godsell
Jack L. Godsell, 74 of Normal, formerly of Bloomington, passed away on Oct. 9 at 4:10 a.m. at Heartland Health Center, Normal.
Visitation will be held from 5-7 p.m. on Thursday at Calvert & Metzler Memorial Home, Bloomington, followed by memorial services at 7 p.m., with Douglas Rutter officiating. Military honors will be conducted after services by the Bloomington/Normal American Legion Honor Guard. Cremation rites will be accorded. The family plans a Celebration of Jack’s Life for friends and family at a future date.

Jack was born on Aug. 30, 1942 in Bloomington, the son of Ned and Maxine Tarter Godsell. He married Jackielynn Groves on Jan. 4, 1964 in Downs.
Jack is survived by his wife Jackielynn, their children: Greg (Kathy) Godsell of Crystal Lake, Ill. and Alyssa Godsell-Dinelli of Bloomington,
grandchildren: Timothy, Audrey and Alexander, his sister: Janet (Richard) Percy, his sister-in-law Linda Alicia (Jim) Haviland and many loved nieces and nephews.
He is preceded in death by his parents, a son: Matthew Lee Godsell, sister Janice Godsell, and brother-in-law Larry Groves.
Jack served in the US Army during the Vietnam Era, attended Baker University, and achieved his LOMA and FLMI designations. In 2003, Jack retired after 40 years from Country Companies in Bloomington as Manager of Brokerage Services.
Jack enjoyed riding his Harley Davidson, hunting with his friends and was an avid reader and history buff.
Despite an accident in 2010 which left him quadriplegic, Jack’s warm personality and great sense of humor never wavered. Many wonderful friends made at Rehab Institute Chicago and Heartland became a part of his family. Jack was an inspiration for all who knew him and will be deeply missed.
