Three Intercity teams post wins

Three of five Intercity high school football teams posted wins Friday night in high school action.

NCHS 49, West 21

Grant Price threw for three touchdowns and rushed for another as the Ironmen moved their record to 3-1 overall and in the Big 12 Conference with a Chili Bowl win over Unit 5 rival Normal West.

NCHS’ Dakota Cremeens added two touchdowns on 65 and 52 yards and rushed for one. Varshaun Dixon had three touchdowns on a run, a pass reception and a fumble recovery return.

West’s Genesis Forrest had 214 yards on 18 carries and touchdowns on runs of 65 and 61 yards. The Wildcats’ record dropped to 1-3 overall and 1-2 in the Big 12.

BHS 58, Rantoul 0

Domeneik Criddell scored five touchdowns to lead the Purple Raiders to their third win of the season in their nonconference homecoming game.

BHS scored 30 points in the first quarter as Criddell scored on runs of 30, 15 and 23 yards while quarterback Colton Sandage threw a 26-yard scoring pass to Avery Brown and Kalon Cross and Kevin Verplaetse combined for a safety.

The Raiders extended the lead to 51-0 by halftime as Criddell scored on runs of 23 and 51 yards Holden Snyder added a 34-yard touchdown run. BHS’ lone score in the second half came in the fourth quarter on an 11-yard run by London Reynolds.

Criddell finished with 183 yards on seven carries as BHS had 355 yards in rushing. BHS is 3-1 overall while Rantoul is winless in four games.

Central 41, Olympia 6

The Saints moved their Corn Belt Conference record to 2-0 and overall record to 3-1 by jumping to a 41-0 lead by halftime over the winless Spartans.

Central scored 20 points in the first quarter at home as quarterback Max Moews hit Bobby Brady with a pass and he took it 70 yards for the first touchdown at the 5:06 mark. Moews and Brady hooked up for a 36-yard scoring pass moments later before Sa’mond Davis added a 25-yard touchdown run with 17 seconds left in the quarter.

The Saints added 21 points in the second quarter on a 32-yard touchdown pass to Andrew Einch, a 24-yard scoring strike to JP Sikora and a 72-yard run by Davis. Olympia scored its touchdown on a 2-yard run by Jackson Castleman midway through the fourth quarter.

Moews completed all seven passes he attempted for 234 yards and four touchdowns while Davis had 93 yards rushing on 10 carries.

Quincy ND 35, U High 7

The Pioneers dropped to 1-3 overall with a nonconference loss on the road. They never led in the game and trailed 21-7 at halftime. Notre Dame added touchdowns in each of the last two quarters to take the win.

U High quarterback Doug Holmes completed 9 of 21 passes for 86 yards and one touchdown.

GCMS 15, LeRoy 0

GCMS rolled up 290 yards in total yards – 267 rushing and 23 passing – to defeat the Panthers. Mitch McNutt had 157 yards and one touchdown. Both teams have 2-2 records.

Dee-Mack 40, EPG 20

The Chiefs remained undefeated as they scored opened a 26-6 lead by halftime in a Heart of Illinois Conference battle. Preston Lester scored two touchdowns and had 101 yards on 10 carries, while Jared Reese had 122 yards on 11 carries and one touchdown.
