BLOOMINGTON – Illinois Wesleyan University has found itself at number 10 on Business Insider’s rankings of the Top 14 Best Colleges in the Midwest.
The news didn’t come as a surprise to IWU Provost and Dean of the Faculty Jonathan Green. He said anyone who knows about the school knows how students are “transformed” by their experience.
“They’ve got lots of small group and one-on-one attention from faculty,” said Green. “All of our classes are taught by faculty, who have joined the institution because they want to be at a teaching university.”
Business Insider noted the average salary of Illinois Wesleyan students 10 years after enrollment is $54,600. Green said that’s “significantly higher” than the national average.
“Certainly, a number of engineering schools tend to be the ones with the highest position, but for liberal arts colleges we were positioned far above almost all of our institutions nationally,” he said.
Other Illinois schools in the rankings were the University of Illinois (6th), Northwestern University (5th), and University of Chicago (4th). University of Michigan was ranked 1st.
