PEKIN – The Tazewell County Coroner’s Office reports a man who was walking in the middle of a highway in East Peoria was struck and killed by a state trooper’s vehicle.
The victim was identified as Jarett Simons, 44, of Freeport.
Illinois State Police say the incident happened early Saturday on Illinois Route 116. Police say the officer didn’t have time to react before the vehicle hit the pedestrian.
