SPRINGFIELD – The war of words between Gov. Bruce Rauner’s administration and AFSCME continues.
A Central Management Services official claims the union for the majority of state workers is threatening to fine them as much as $5,000 if they cross a picket line in the event of a strike. AFSCME is calling the claim “another groundless attack from the Rauner administration.”
A memo from the labor relations deputy director for the Department of Central Management Services claims AFSCME has a strike date of Sept. 1, but the union says there is no strike date and they want to avoid a strike.
