The man who served as the voice of Mitsubishi in Normal has accepted a new job.

Dan Irvin will be the new director of communications for the Town of Normal.

Normal City Manager Mark Peterson made the announcement.

“One of the Town Council’s top priority strategic initiatives calls for the development of an enhanced communications program within the organization. In recent years, the Town has made great strides in enhancing the organization’s presence. We have also improved our outreach efforts both internally and externally,” said Peterson. “I firmly believe that Dan is the person to take these efforts to the next level, directing a communications department that will maximize our opportunities to showcase the Town of Normal to both our residents and to possible constituencies beyond our corporate borders.”

The 62 year old Irvin had a 17 year career with Mitsubishi Motors as the company’s head of public relations.

Irvin also worked as an on-air host and reporter at WJBC radio.

He starts his new job with the Town of Normal June 6th.

Illinois poet Vachel Lindsay…

In these troubled times, to my fellow white Americans

By Mike Matejka Our nation is at a unique watershed in human relations. African-Americans have been killed too many times in the past before George Floyd, but the response to this man’s death is international and all-encompassing. I was a grade-schooler during the Civil Rights 1960s. I watched Birmingham demonstrators hosed and the Selma – Montgomery…

Workers’ Memorial Day – Remember those whose job took their life

Looking around our community, when we say employer, most will respond to State Farm, Country, or Illinois State University.   We too often forget those who are building our roads, serving our food, or our public employees. COVID-19 has made us more aware of the risk.  Going to work every day for some people means…
