BPD arrest Chicago man for robbery, drug possession

BLOOMINGTON – A man from Chicago has been arrested in Bloomington for robbery and drug possession.

Bloomington Police said Wanyae Massey, 18, was arrested Tuesday in relation to a robbery which took place on Feb. 27. Victims had reported a male had come across them in a back alley near the intersection of West Market and Catherine streets, taken a bag and headphones, threw the victim to the ground and fled on foot.

Police located Massey, who fit the vitcim’s desription, near the same intersection Tuesday and placed him under arrest. During the arrest, police found over 30 grams of cannabis and more than a gram of cocaine. Police said Massey also gave office a false name during the arrest.

Massey is being charged with robbery, possesion of up to 15 grams of a controlled substance, providing false information, possession of cannabis and possession of a look-alike substance.

Massey is being held without bond in the McLean County Jail on an out-of-county warrant.
