BLOOMINGTON – A man on trial for murder in McLean County was identified as having shot the victim by the victim’s wife on the day of the shooting.

Tracy Newson, 49, of Normal has pleaded not guilty to the shooting death of Carlton Jordan in November 2014 after an argument between the two at 703 Turnberry Drive.

Bloomington Police Officer Timothy Carlton told jurors Tuesday afternoon after he arrived at the scene Jordan’s wife Cynthia Jordan told him Newson shot her husband.

Also testifying Tuesday was Newson’s girlfriend Juanita Ware, who said an argument did happen between Newson and Carlton Jordan. She added Cynthia Jordan and Newson were wrestling over a gun when the shot was fired which killed Carlton.

The trial is set to continue on Wednesday with further testimony from Ware.

African-Americans have been killed too many times in the past before George Floyd, but the response to this man’s death is international and all-encompassing. I was a grade-schooler during the Civil Rights 1960s. I watched Birmingham demonstrators hosed and the Selma – Montgomery…

Workers’ Memorial Day – Remember those whose job took their life

COVID-19 has made us more aware of the risk.  Going to work every day for some people means…
