SPRINGFIELD – Thousands of applications for medical marijuana usage have been approved and ID cards should be in applicants’ hands in a few days.

Users should be able to buy marijuana from approved dispensaries within the next two weeks, finally putting in place a process years in the making.

“I would anticipate that most patients will be receiving their cards early next week, Monday or Tuesday hopefully,” says Joseph Wright, director of the Illinois Medical Cannabis program.

Wright couldn’t give a firm date when sales would start – though he notes he’s asked about that several times a day. Wright says each patient must register with one dispensary through the Illinois Department of Public Health.

Illinois poet Vachel Lindsay…

I was a grade-schooler during the Civil Rights 1960s. I watched Birmingham demonstrators hosed and the Selma – Montgomery…

Workers’ Memorial Day – Remember those whose job took their life

Looking around our community, when we say employer, most will respond to State Farm, Country, or Illinois State University.   We too often forget those who are building our roads, serving our food, or our public employees. COVID-19 has made us more aware of the risk.  Going to work every day for some people means…
