BLOOMINGTON – For the first time, there’s a waiting list for schools bringing field trips to Evergreen Cemetery in Bloomington for the 21st annual cemetery walk.
Education director for the McLean County Museum of History Candace Summers told WJBC’s Scott Laughlin student attendance is set to break a record this year after cemetery walk organizers took direction from the schools and sought sponsors to cover their costs so they no longer have to pay an entry fee.

“We know budgets are tight and for kids to still be able to ex this event, we want to make sure this was going to happen,” Summers said. “(The public) answered with overwhelming support.”
Evergreen Cemetery, CEFCU, the Copy Shop have all contributed to cover the cost.
“We cannot thank them all enough for making this happen and keeping local history in the schools,” SUmmers said. “It’s wonderful we are able to continue to do this.”
The school groups can see the cemetery walk next Monday through Thursday while the public can see the performances the next two weekends, Saturday and Sunday from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m.
Schedule information and a list of performers are available at www.mchistory.org.
