BLOOMINGTON – City officials say a new mobile app will offer a new way for the public to connect with their government.
The city has completed a beta test for myBloomington, which spokeswoman Nora Dukowitz said will add features over time.
“We will see how this rolls out,” Dukowitz said. “We will also listen to citizen inputs, requests they would like to see. We have a lot of flixibilty to make this app into the percfect tool for our community.”
For now, the app enabled users to reports potholes, malfuctioning street lights, downed steets signs and other pulic works and public safety concerns.
“These apps are growing in popularity, all across the country as a way for municipalities to communicate with their citizenry,” Dukowitz said. “We saw it’s worked well in other communities and thought what a great thing to bring to Bloomington.”
The app promises instant notification when your matter is addressed.
Bloomington has contract with New York-based PublicStuff to develop and maintain the city at just under $10,000 per year. The app is free to download in the Apple app store or Google Play.
