SPRINGFIELD – Include lawmakers and constitutional officers in the category of state employees whose healthcare benefits are being impacted because of no state budget.
Illinois Central Management Services has confirmed that lawmakers’ and constitutional officers’ health benefits are included in the same category with other state employees and insists that group insurance coverage is still ongoing, however payments are not being made to self insurance plans.
CMS reiterated the agency is not able to make claim payments to self insured plans because the General Assembly has not passed the legal authorization to make the payments.
There are more than 213,000 individuals covered by the state’s fully insured plan and more than 149,600 individuals covered by the state’s self-insurance plan.
