BLOOMINGTON – Violent crime is down nine percent across the city of Bloomington compared to last year at this time. Bloomington Police Chief Brendan Heffner tells WJBC’s Susan Saunders citizens are making the difference.
“If you remember also last year we were actually down 12 percent overall for the year as a total,” said Heffner. “So we hope to keep that going. That comes from hard work from the officers as well as the public.”
However, Heffner car thefts continue to be a problem in Bloomington. He says many people are still leaving their cars unlocked. Heffner also says cars that have a key less start can still become operational if the keys are left within a short distance of the vehicle.
