SPRINGFIELD – Snow could fly, Santa could come, and the groundhog could see its shadow before we see a balanced budget passed in the state legislature.

State Senator Bill Brady tells WJBC’s Dan Swaney this budget stalemate could last for quite some time.

“I think March is probably the longest we can go without some sort of reconciliation,” said Brady. “The problem with that is we will have the same problem in March that we had last March when they passed an out of balance budget and that solution cost about $1.6 Billion.”

Brady says passing a balanced budget is a priority and that’s not something the democrats have offered.

Illinois poet Vachel Lindsay…

I was a grade-schooler during the Civil Rights 1960s. I watched Birmingham demonstrators hosed and the Selma – Montgomery…

Workers’ Memorial Day – Remember those whose job took their life

Looking around our community, when we say employer, most will respond to State Farm, Country, or Illinois State University.   We too often forget those who are building our roads, serving our food, or our public employees. COVID-19 has made us more aware of the risk.  Going to work every day for some people means…
