NORMAL – The Normal Town Council will vote Monday night on approving a $669,000 dollar project to make improvements on the north portion of Sugar Creek.
Deputy City Manager Pamela Reece said Stark Excavating will be doing the work, which will run from College Avenue south to the Constitution Trail.
“The creek will see some improvements in terms of some re-grading, some plantings, some overall visual appeal,” she said.
Reece said if approved the project should be completed by the end of the year.
“What that will do is give us, basically, additional years of beauty of that creek,” said Reece. “As well as water flow and reduced risk of erosion.”
Also on Monday, the council will hold a discussion on possibly increasing the town’s portion of the local sales tax.
