LONG POINT – A man from Streator has been charged with three counts of first-degree murder for the shooting death of a man in Long Point Sunday.
David Stayton, 58, is being held on $3 million bond after he was arraigned Tuesday. He faces several other charges as well, including attempted first-degree murder, home invasion and aggravated discharge of a firearm.
Samuel Murphy, 73, died from a gunshot wound to his stomach. A woman escaped while Stayton was in an alleged standoff with police. Livingston County State’s Attorney Seth Uphoff said Stayton was involved in a relationship with the unidentified woman.
