SPRINGFIELD – Illinois State Police are urging the public to stay off the roads during the winter storm.
The combination of snow, high winds and bitter cold will make driving difficult says ISP Trooper Haylie Polistina. That’s why they would like to see everyone stay home if they can.
If you do head out and get into trouble:
“We ask that you remain in your car where it’s the safest with your seatbelt on. Call 911 and we’ll come out to you and try to get you out. If we can’t get your vehicle out, we’ll have to get it at a later time. But the safest place is to be in your vehicle,” said Polistina.
Polistina says it’s also vital that drivers obey the move over law since the roads will be slick.
