NORMAL – Russia’s invasion of Ukraine will have an economic impact locally, according to an Illinois State University professor.
Dr. Mike Hendricks is an assistant professor in the Department of Politics at ISU. He spoke with WJBC’s Scott Miller.
“Gas prices just already went up to over $100 a barrel as soon as Russia started the invasion, so we are going to see an increase in our already high gas prices,” said Hendricks. “We are likely to see inflation rise even more. So it is going to impact us here in central Illinois.”
President Biden said Thursday that the U.S. will introduce a new wave of sanctions against Russia in a broad effort to isolate Moscow from the global economy.
