CLINTON – The top leader of Clinton’s school district says he’s “fed up” with Governor Pritzker’s new rules on school districts without providing any support.
Two weeks ago, Clinton Superintendent Curt Nettles said he sat down with the State’s to discuss the Governors new COVID-19 protocols.
“Personally, I’ll just say, I’ve had enough. I’ve tried to employ what ever methods I can to get my voice heard. And as a lot of your listeners may know, I sat at the table with the State Board of Education a week and a half or so ago. I had to be very poignant to get a look even from the state superintendent across the table. You know, I’m talking to you, please pay attention. It’s difficult. The Governor is practically unreachable.”
One of the biggest challenges for Nettles is where to direct staffers to get tested and if the district is obligated to provide testing.
“I guess I’ve had enough of the bad inflow communication. I’ve had enough of the rules upon rules that are very difficult for us to employ. My concern is how do we keep continuing doing these kinds of things and get our kids here in town the quality education that they deserve with you know, the possibly that some people may not want to partake anymore.”
On Friday, the Governor announced a two-week extension of vaccination requirements for individuals in high-risk settings like schools.
