BLOOMINGTON – A Chenoa man has been arrested after a McLean County Grand Jury indicted him on felony charges of attempted production of child pornography and obstructing justice.
The indictment alleges than in January of this year, Curtis Cleary, 32, made a hole in celling tile and placed a recording device inside a bathroom which he knew would be used by minors. Authorities said the bathroom was not in a public place, like a school, but they are not revealing the exact location.
The obstructing justice charge alleges Cleary tried to destroy evidence by smashing the cellular device.
The attempted child pornography charge is a Class 1 felony, with a maximum penalty of 15-years in prison if he’s found guilty.
Cleary is being held on $100,000 bail, meaning he has to come up with $10,000 cash to be released from jail.
His next court date is September 17.
