Construction crews beginning the first stage of Towanda Avenue Bridge

NORMAL – Starting on Monday, drivers are encouraged to use caution as construction crews begin repairing the Towanda Avenue Bridge.

While crews work on the bridge, there is a land reduction on Towanda Avenue between Von Maur Drive and Vernon Avenue.

Additionally, the outside southbound lane of Towanda and the sidewalk on the west side of Towanda Avenue will be closed.

According to a news release, crews are placing traffic control changes, and additional lane closures are possible during the project.

All local access will be maintained during construction through October 15.
