BLOOMINGTON – Logan Smith submitted his resignation to McLean County Board Chairman John McIntyre Friday, effective immediately.
Smith, a Democrat who represents District 4 on the county board, says he recently accepted a job offer out of state.
“I’m extremely proud of the work the board has done since taking office,” Smith said in a Facebook post. “We did some big things! We killed a “demonstration” ordinance that would have limited the rights of McLean County residents to assemble on County (Public) property. We started the process of acquiring solar panels on County buildings in Downtown Bloomington. We also paved some roads, improved recreation at COMLARA, and even got the County nursing home back on the right track.”
Smith was elected to the county board in 2018 at the age of 19.
Board chairman John McIntyre will appoint another Democrat to serve the rest of Smith’s term.
