BLOOMINGTON – A man has been found guilty of murder in a 2018 shooting outside an apartment in Bloomington. Now 29, Hammet Brown was found guilty of the murders of 18-year-old Steven Alexander and 20-year-old Taneshiea Brown.
Judge Casey Costigan presided over the bench trial and delivered the verdict Monday afternoon.
Court documents show the June 10, 2018 shooting came after an argument outside the Orchard Road apartment building. Witnesses testified that Hammet Brown was the shooter. He was identified by his alias “Law.” Those documents showed police found 8 shell casings at the scene.
Brown was also charged with attempted murder after two others were shot in the leg.
He could face life in prison.
