SPRINGFIELD – After almost a year, the novelty of online learning seems to have worn off.
“A recent study that came out of Lurie Children’s Hospital at Northwestern University said one in five children are dealing with a mental health disorder because of the pandemic,” said Dr. Sameer Vohra during a webinar put on by the University of Illinois Springfield Friday. “Mental health disorders are routinely underreported, so we know that number is probably higher.”
And Springfield Public Schools superintendent Jennifer Gill can count three times the number of F’s students have earned; a further indication online learning may not be all that effective.
