BLOOMINGTON – Due to inclement weather, the weekly shipment of COVID-19 vaccines to McLean County has been delayed, according to the McLean County Health Department Administrator Jessica McKnight.
The delay has canceled the vaccine clinic at Grossinger Motors Arena for Friday, Feb. 19. That clinic was for people receiving their second dose. McKnight says around 900 residents who were scheduled will be contacted to reschedule the appointment.

The Illinois Department of Public Health has notified MCHD that weekly shipments of COVID-19 vaccine will be primarily for second doses the next few weeks. Due to the limited supply, McKnight says the health department will not schedule any first dose appointments for next week.
“The county is expecting just 500 first doses of vaccine next week,” said McKnight. “These doses are allocated across multiple providers in the community, as a result, the health department will not be posting any first dose appointments for next week.”
Over 24,000 vaccines have been administered in the county with 3.16% of the population fully vaccinated.
