BLOOMINGTON – Police arrested a Bloomington man for an armed robbery attempt Wednesday night.
Officers were called around 6:45 p.m. to the 800 block of E. Walnut St. for an armed robbery, according to Bloomington police. It was reported that the suspect attempted to rob a taxi driver by brandishing a pistol and demanding money. The suspect fled on foot shortly after the failed attempt. The suspect did not obtain any cash or property.

Officers on scene began investigating the incident. Shortly afterward, officers located the suspect, who was sitting inside of a vehicle in the 800 block of E. Chestnut Street. Officers had surrounded the vehicle, and ordered the suspect out. The suspect remained inside of the vehicle for approximately 25 minutes until he voluntarily exited the vehicle.
Police said Austin Pittman, 18, was arrested for aggravated robbery. He was taken to the McLean County jail. Bond was requested at $7,500.
