4 more COVID-related deaths reported in McLean County

BLOOMINGTON – McLean County health officials Tuesday reported four additional coronavirus-related deaths, bringing the number of lives lost to 62.

Three women in their 80s and a man in his 90s, all associated with long-term care facilities died, according to McLean County Health Department Administrator Jessica McKnight.

“We continue to urge the public to take steps to protect themselves, their communities, and people who are at increased risk of severe illness,” said McKnight. “The virus spreads at large events but also at small private gatherings between family and friends. We all can do our part. Stay home as much as possible, wear a mask, follow guidance for isolation and quarantine, wash your hands, and practice social distancing.”

15 McLean County residents are reported to be hospitalized due to COVID and 1,210 are isolating at home. McLean County hospitals are reporting 77% of ICU beds in use and 91% of total beds in use.

MCHD announced 108 new cases as the county’s rolling positivity rate inched up to 9.4%. The county’s positivity rate is below the statewide rate of 9.9% and Region 2’s rate which is 13.6%.

142 additional people were released from isolation and are considered recovered.
