2 more COVID-related deaths in McLean County; 97% of local hospital beds in use

BLOOMINGTON – Two additional McLean County residents have died from COVID-complications as local health officials Wednesday reported 90 new cases.

A man and a woman in their 80s died and neither were associated with a long-term care facility, according to McLean County Health Department Administrator Jessica McKnight. There have been 58 lives lost in the county.

There are 16 McLean County residents currently hospitalized due to COVID, but local hospitals are reporting 96% of ICU beds in use and 97% of total beds in use. McKnight reminds people that local hospitals provide other treatment and care other than COVID and care for individuals from outside our county.

The county’s rolling positivity rate has gone up four consecutive days and is now 12.6%. There are 1,261 residents in home isolation and 168 additional people have recovered.

“The number of active cases, contacts, and newly reported cases in our community remain high,” said McKnight. “We continue to urge the public to take steps to protect themselves, their communities, and people who are at increased risk of severe illness.”
