SPRINGFIELD – Let the 2022 campaign begin … and could Senate Minority Leader Bill Brady (R-Bloomington) be opening the door to yet another gubernatorial run?
In a letter to members of the Senate Republican caucus, Brady says he will not run for leader for the two-year session that starts in January. The memo, obtained by the political web site Capitol Fax, says Brady promised not to run for another office while serving as leader, and he suggests there’s another chapter for him.
Brady has run in the last three gubernatorial elections, becoming the Republican nominee only in 2010, when voters chose Democrat Pat Quinn. He has also run for Congress, also unsuccessfully.
