BLOOMINGTON – A Bloomington woman, who fatally stabbed a man in the heart two years ago, was sentenced Monday to 23-years in prison.
Leila Jackson, 24, must serve the entire sentence, but gets credit for the 821 days she’s served in the McLean County Jail.
A jury this past June found Jackson guilty of first-degree murder despite her claims that she feared for her life when Quantez Brown, 24, showed up at her home in the 400 block of North Roosevelt in July 2018.
Authorities said Jackson and Brown knew each other, but were not dating each other.
Jackson faced up to 60 years in prison for killing Brown, but she has no prior criminal record, and Judge Scott Drazewski noted that Jackson has worked to rehabilitate herself during her time in the county jail.
