NORMAL – It’s time to get back to Normal, said Normal’s mayor, but he’s commending leaders of the town’s university and a local community college for bringing back their students in a “measured way.”
According to our news partner HOI ABC, Mayor Chris Koos turned to social media late Wednesday night saying he supports the cautious approach taken in the midst of the COVID-19 pandemic by Illinois State University President Larry Dietz, Heartland Community College President Keith Cornille and their staffs.
Koos said the schools are “balancing the hunger for education with the reality of COVID-19.”
At ISU, a university spokesperson said earlier this week that 80% of all courses for the fall semester are being offered online.
Mayor Koos went on to say, “We all, as a community have an obligation to each other to be responsible, caring and mindful of each other. Wear the mask, distance socially, wash your hands more often than you would.”
ISU students and Heartland students are coming back, in a measured way. Kudos to Presidents Larry Dietz and Keith…
