SPRINGFIELD – The latest reaction to the Commonwealth Edison bribery allegations, to which the utility has admitted, is a House Republican call for a special session.
State Rep. Grant Wehrli (R-Naperville) says it’s a problem that House Speaker Mike Madigan (D-Chicago) is also chair of the Democratic Party of Illinois.
“This speaks to the absolute arrogance of the Speaker,” Wehrli told an online news conference Tuesday. “He doesn’t think that anyone else within the party is qualified to lead the party. How much power does one individual need?
“Your silence is corruption.”
Wehrli and others want the governor to call a special session on ethics.
Com Ed is accused of hiring or otherwise paying off people connected to Madigan in exchange for legislation that benefited Com Ed.
