NORMAL – After a peaceful protest in downtown Bloomington Sunday night, riots and looting struck the Twin-Cities.
Looters hit the Target and Walmart in Normal, stealing things like television sets and various clothing items. Normal Mayor Chris Koos said he observed the mayhem from the outer edges.

“This was not the people that were having a peaceful protest trying to bring awareness to a national issue in our country,” Koos told WJBC’s Scott Miller. “It was just reprehensible behavior going on.”
“We are going to do what we can as quickly as we can to get on top of the situation of the looting,” Koos said. “We have two distinctly different issues going on here. We will be talking later today about what our actions are going forward.”
In response to the looting, some places like Chicago have set a curfew. Koos said both the town and city of Bloomington would collaborate if a curfew were to be enacted.
