LEXINGTON – An infant, child, and their mother were killed in a fire overnight in rural Lexington.
According to McLean County Sheriff, Jon Sandage, first responders were called just after 3:30 a.m. to 25083 N. Main St. in Westwind Estates. The infant found was taken to OSF St. Joseph in Bloomington, but was ultimately pronounced dead at the hospital. Another child and their mother were pronounced dead on the scene.
The exact cause of death was not released, and the cause of the fire is under investigation by several agencies including the McLean County Sheriff’s Office and the state fire marshal’s office.
More information is expected to be released later today when the autopsies are complete.
Responding agencies to the fire include fire departments from Lexington, Chenoa, Gridley, Towanda, Hudson, and Normal; four law enforcement agencies also responded including Illinois State Police.
