BLOOMINGTON – A man is in custody for allegedly starting a fire Monday afternoon that caused major damage to a Bloomington home.

Andrew L. Stanley, 37, of Bloomington was arrested for aggravated arson, according to Bloomington Police.  He is being held in the McLean County jail.

The fire happened around 3:50 p.m. at 809 E. Bissell St., on the city’s south side, according to our news partner Heart of Illinois ABC. Authorities did not say how the fire started, but they said it stemmed from an apparent domestic dispute.  Police said a 34-year-old woman and teenage girl were inside the residence when the fire was lit.

The Bloomington Fire Department said no serious injuries were reported from the fire that gutted a back room and caused smoke and fire damage to the attic. The fire department said there was smoke and water damage to the rest of the house.
