SPRINGFIELD – A now-annual presentation of “I Have a Dream” means a lot to Springfield actor/director Reggie Guyton.
“It’s more to me than just being able to look out (from the stage) and see my community,” said Guyton. “All versions of my community, whether white or black or gay or straight or young or old. It’s being able to know that while we still have so far to go, we still have the urge to keep together as a community.”
So how far have we come since 1963?
“There is still a lot of systemic and systematic racism,” he said. “There is still a lot of divide, unfortunately, between races, and there is still, also, capitalism, which keeps everything functioning.”
