LEROY – A suspected drunk driver is on the loose after he reportedly eluded police by running into a cornfield near LeRoy.
Police are looking for Wayne Yeary, 24, from the Vermilion County village of Rankin.
LeRoy Police said Yeary ran into the cornfield when officers made a traffic stop about 9:30 p.m. Saturday near Interstate 74 and U.S. Route 136.
Police dogs, along with the McLean County Sheriff’s Department, Normal and Downs Police, and Illinois State Police aided in the search.
Yeary faces charges including aggravated DUI, driving on a revoked license, escape, and resisting arrest. Police said he’s also wanted on warrants from neighboring counties.
