SPRINGFIELD – The Great Emancipator made his way onto national tee vee!
Springfield Convention and Visitors Bureau director Scott Dahl says it was a promotion for tourism in Springfield.
“This originated last year in an idea that we would put Abraham Lincoln on an airplane and see what kind of organic reaction that we could get,” Dahl told aldermen this week. “It really came about from an ad buy we purchased in the Wall Street Journal, 100,000 homes in the Chicago area. And, as an add-on to that, there was some digital advertising on the Good Morning America board in Times Square.”
And the Sixteenth President, bearing a striking resemblance to Springfield’s Fritz Klein, got some face time with Robin Roberts and a shout-out on television.
