CLINTON – The investigation continues into the death of a 4-month old Clinton girl on Sunday.

The Illinois Department of Children and Family Services said Monday it is one of the agencies investigating four-month old Emily Killian’s death, and both parents have been subject to prior DCFS investigations.

Clinton Police were called Sunday morning to the 400 block of South Jackson Street for a report of an unresponsive infant. The child was transported to Warner Hospital and was pronounced dead around 9:30 a.m. by DeWitt County Coroner Randy Rice. An autopsy has been scheduled.

“At this point, this is a death investigation and will remain as such until or unless we determine otherwise. We are following our death investigation protocol and anticipate more information following autopsy and toxicology reports,” said Clinton Police Chief Ben Lowers.

Illinois State Police are assisting in the investigation.

Illinois poet Vachel Lindsay…

By Mike Matejka Our nation is at a unique watershed in human relations. African-Americans have been killed too many times in the past before George Floyd, but the response to this man’s death is international and all-encompassing. I was a grade-schooler during the Civil Rights 1960s. I watched Birmingham demonstrators hosed and the Selma – Montgomery…

Workers’ Memorial Day – Remember those whose job took their life

Looking around our community, when we say employer, most will respond to State Farm, Country, or Illinois State University.   We too often forget those who are building our roads, serving our food, or our public employees. COVID-19 has made us more aware of the risk.  Going to work every day for some people means…
