The Illinois Commerce Commission is trying to learn more about electric vehicles.
The ICC has issued a “notice of inquiry,” basically a call for information, which commissioner Anastasia Palivos says will build on a pair of policy sessions.
One was about the nexus of electric vehicles and grid stabilization, and the second was on the electrification of transportation,” Palivos tells WJBC News. “we are like a research team putting together a bunch of information on unanswered questions on electric vehicles.”
Why now? It’s time.
“It’s important to look at the possibility of electric vehicle adoption: reducing utility bills, carbon emissions, and fuel and vehicle expenses in Illinois. Now is the time to look at these potential benefits with electric vehicle deployment,” says Palivos.
Palivos says there are about 15 thousand electric vehicles on the road in Illinois now.
