NORMAL – Midwest Food Bank has begun its relief efforts for the area affected by Hurricane Florence.
The organization is a first responder for The Salvation Army, which requested the help. The first semi load of food boxes left the Midwest Food Bank Normal facility early Thursday morning. Another load is expected to leave Peoria Friday. Each load contains about 1,000 food boxes which are designed to feed a family of four for up to five days.
Midwest Food Bank is building more disaster relief boxes in Normal with additional packing sessions scheduled for Monday and Thursday of next week. More information is at midwestfoodbank.org or at the Midwest Food Bank Facebook page.
Monetary donations are also requested through midwestfoodbank.org or by sending the donations to Midwest Food Bank, 2031 Warehouse Road, Normal, IL 61761.
