Semi-Truck fire southbound Rt. 39 near Hudson

(Updated 8:57 am) Illinois State Police confirming three people dead at the scene of the fire.

(Updated 7:50 am)Two semi trucks consumed by fire this morning on I-39 southbound near the Hudson exit.

Unconfirmed reports say a north bound semi crossed through the median into the southbound lane just before six this morning. Crews from our news partner WMBD say they’ve been told three people are dead.

Facebook posts from witnesses say it started as an explosion.

Traffic is being redirected through Hudson as the southbound lanes are shut down.

Hudson police say the intersection of Broadway and Franklin is now a four way stop until further notice to help with the flow of traffic.

Normal and Towanda fire districts joined the effort to help Hudson fire.

(Updated 6:24 am) Two semi trucks were reported on fire on southbound on Route 39 near the Hudson exit just before six a.m. Wednesday.

One truck was reported in the ditch and the other on the road.
