SPRINGFIELD – A fancy bus – promoting cable television’s most UNfancy channel – is parked in Springfield for a couple of days.
“Springfield is, of course, the state capital. And there’s a tremendous amount of history in Springfield,” said Rob Kennedy, co-CEO of C-SPAN – and a Springfield native and University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign graduate. “That’s really what C-SPAN is all about: government, bringing government to the people, and informing that with programming about American history, so that fits in really well with my background in Springfield.”
The bus stopped briefly in Bloomington on Monday on its way to the capital.
The tour of fifty capitals — including Hawaii and Alaska — in 14 months includes question-and-answers with local people.
