BLOOMINGTON – Bloomington will temporarily limit city service bill payments to online transactions on Friday.
Director of Information Services Scott Sprouls explained this is due to upgrades the city will be doing to its business management software.
“When we do the upgrade that we’re doing – and it’s just a single point release, 10.4 to 10.5 – the entire system has to come down through that process of upgrade,” he said.
Payments to the City Clerk’s office, such as those for licenses, will not be accepted at all.
“For the Water Department folks, we’re going to set up computers outside of the cashier windows where folks can go online and pay if they need to,” Sprouls said.
Sprouls added not every department will be unable to take over-the-counter payments. He suggested calling ahead to make sure payments are being accepted at that department on Friday.
The system will be back to full operation by Monday.
