Unit 5 starts search for third new school board member

NORMAL – Unit 5 is seeking candidates to fill one last school board vacancy.

Joseph Cleary is the third board member leaving the community to accept a job offer.

The board appointed Alan Kalitzky to take David Fortner’s seat and Amy Roser was picked to replace Jim Hayek. Kalitzky and Roser which each members of Unit 5’s Citizens Advisory Council.

Cleary’s resignation was effective on Thursday, and the board has 45 days to choose his replacement.

All three new members are expected to run in next April’s election.

Board members have to be 18 or older, an Illinois resident, and a registered voter.

The application deadline is Friday, July 27 at 3 p.m. More information is available on the district’s website at www.unit5.org.
