CHENOA – Fire officials say it was an electrical fire that nearly destroyed a house on Monday.
Chenoa fire chief Troy Aldrich said a wire to a clothes dryer had become frayed and caught fire at the home at 101 Illinois St. shortly before 10 a.m. Aldrich said everyone got out of the house unhurt, but he said a family dog died. He added the home in almost a total loss. There’s no damage estimate available.
Crews from Fairbury, Gridley and Lexington fire departments assisted in battling the blaze.
