DANVERS – Sounds of the Summer will hit the streets of Danvers, as the Danvers Town Band introduced their summer concert series.
Adults of all ages are invited to join the Danvers Town Band on their annual summer concert series starting on July 1. Danvers Town Band President, Andy Argo, said the Danvers Town Band will be playing a mixture of traditional marches and popular music.
“(Our band) has been going on for about 110 years,” said Argo. “Its a community band that plays on Sunday nights and (we) do it for the people of Danvers and a lot of other people from the surrounding communities (including) Bloomington and other small communities in McLean County come attend.”
The summer concert series will host events on July 1, 8, 15, 22 and 29. All of the events include an ice cream social and a dinner before the music begins. Argo said its a perfect way to wrap up the weekend.
“We play on Sunday nights at 7 p.m. and then before that there is usually some sort of ice cream social with some type of dinner,” added Argo. “(The dinner) is ran by community groups in Danvers and that usually starts at 5:30 p.m.”
The Danvers Town Band can be heard for free at the Danvers Municipal Park Bandstand located on Main St. in Danvers. Argo said if you are looking to join the band, anyone is welcome.
“Anyone is welcome to join the band,” said Argo. “They can contact Andy Argo ([email protected]) or they can attend a practice on Monday nights at the Danvers grade school at 6:30 p.m.”
